Artist/ Photographer and Ever the Environmentalist

In 1981 Stephan lead the documentary style - wedding movement when he founded Bristol Workshops in Photography, quickly becoming (and remaining) a choice photographer for chic venues like Oceancliff, Castle Hill, Astors' Beechwood, Blithewold and Rosecliff. Through his quiet charm and artistic lens, he captures the hearts and souls of clients mid-moment.
A widely published artist and teacher, his elegant photography has been exhibited throughtout the US and Europe. Fellowships include: A Fulbright Haye Fellow, MacDowell Colony Fellow, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellow. His art can be spotted in many museum collections including: The Whitney Museum of American Art; The Corcoran Gallery of Art; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; and The Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design.
Stephan has collaborated on Angels of Pompeii, and authored Remarkable People, an eclectic portrait book. In his not-so-spare time, Stephan is an active supporter of enviornmental causes and is the founder of Save Bristol Harbor.
Proudly born in Providence and educated at Providence College and The Rhode Island School of Design, Stephan crashes in Bristol, RI with his wife Julie and many animals. His alter ego, left-brained son Stefano is a doctoral student in Canada.
In Italian, ”Oggi, sposo mia amica migliore” means “Today, I marry my best friend”. Today and forever. Current and timeless. Oggi e sempre.
