Go Green - Don’t Trash Your Dress

There has been a trend in the world of weddings - It's called Trash the Dress. This is the polar opposite of the environmentally conscious, thoughtful bride. We spoke to several of our OGGI brides to get their take on the "Trash the dress" trend, and also wanted to provide some alternative ideas for what to do with your dress after the wedding.

" I wish I had done something about my gown yet to tell you about! It is currently hanging in my closet, not yet dry cleaned! My plan was to have it dry cleaned and then once a year to wear it ( if I can still fit into it!) to a party I would host for all my married girlfriends- I was going to call it- "Night on the town in your gown"! I'll let you know if I do it- I am sure there will be some great pictures!!! I would definitely be interested in donating it though, so please let me know about those options!

And why do I want a picture of me in the ocean wearing my wedding dress? Are we missing something? My plan was to use the fabric to make baptism outfits for our children. I do like the idea of donating it though...something to think about."
Kim said: "I am holding on to my dress in the hopes that my daughter will someday wear it (or perhaps reconstruct it using the material). It's sealed in a storage bag in our cedar closet. But I think it's a great idea for brides to donate their dresses if they're not going to save them. Let me
know how it works out!"
Samantha said: "If I could, I would wear my dress every day!! It was purely magical and made all of my wedding dreams come true. That said, I had a lot of trouble deciding what to do with it after the wedding. I considered donating, but I couldn't bare to part with it. In the end, I had it professionally cleaned and preserved in a special box. I keep it close under my bed in the hopes of one day watching my own daughter or family member proudly wear it at their own wedding. Some say I am crazy, but I am just a hopeless romantic."
Don't trash that gorgeous dress! And if you want to donate it to a wonderful charity, read on:
