It’s fun and easy to blog about warm weather weddings in the sparkling sunshine. The evening shadows are rich with color, the setting sunlight is gold and everyone looks glorious. But, what about those few weddings that happen on dreary, rainy days? Take a look at this great Blithewold Mansion wedding where with luck and laughter we dodged the raindrops and used the flat grey backdrop to our advantage.

Oliver's Bar Mitzvah

The traditional rite of passage for teenage boys - Bar Mitzvah - is always a time for celebration. To honor the coming of age for their sixth child, the parents of young Oliver threw a spectacular bash at the RICC. The day started with Oliver’s pledge at the Temple Habonim and continued with a host of guests who toasted the young man’s health and happiness. Holli and Rob at Blithewold Mansion, Bristol, RI

After days of heavy downpours and cool nights the wedding day of Holli and Rob arrived with sunshine and warmth in abundance. These adorable middle school teachers were a joy to photograph with smiles that beamed the whole day. Their romantic celebration was a picturesque symphony of colors with an incredible herb garden created by design under the giant white tent. Rob’s discerning taste was evident in every detail of the event with sweet, personal details everywhere you looked. Stephanie and Jon's Engagement Session

I was quietly working in the studio on a weekend morning when a friend called with a photo request. Her nephew, Jon and his (gorgeous) fiancee, Stephanie had contracted a RI wedding photographer for an engagement photo session at the much loved family cottage. Flying in from business trips, they came from opposite ends of the country to meet in PA and drive together to RI. As they crossed the RI border their photographer texted them that she could not do the photoshoot. Imagine my delight when I met this couple an hour later! In a word, Beautiful (inside and out). Kate's Engagement Session

Kate contacted Oggi this summer when she needed to have fresh photos taken of she and her fiance together. She wanted to have engagement photos taken without any of the fuss and posing that seems to go along with engagement photos, no props or fluff. Julie met them in a sun-drenched field next to Bristol Harbor for a relaxed session where they walked around and smiled for the camera. Kate was thrilled with how Julie was able to “capture her essence” without making it feel contrived or fake. Take a look at how this lovely couple bloomed in a garden of hydrangeas and love. My journey to Haiti with 1000jobsHaiti

As some of you know, I traveled to Haiti last month to photograph for 1000jobsHaiti. It was a rich journey, filled with sights, smells and emotions that I have never experienced before. The sea of people was lush, the landscape teetered between heaven (the apparent visuals of the countryside), and hell (the city, Port-Au-Prince). It was a photographic overload! I miss it. Included below is just a taste of the visual feast of photos that I came back with. Photography: Julie Organization: 1000jobsHaiti, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization

Senior Portraits the Oggi way

The term “senior portrait” might mean something different depending on whom you ask. Some people think it is having a full-scale commercial fashion shoot. At Oggi we think that they should simply be radiant photographs of a person. Just like with all her work, Julie creates a portrait that gets to the essence of a person without over processing or over dramatizing. These three beautiful girls are each graduating as part of the class of 2012. Julie was able to snag each one at the end of the summer to capture these gorgeous photos and celebrate their final year of high school. Elizabeth and Tim at Sakonnet Vineyard

Warning: your cheeks will hurt by the end of this post after all the smiling you will be doing!! Elizabeth and Tim’s wedding at Sakonnet Vineyards was bright, warm and joyful - just like them. Petite ballerina Elizabeth met her Prince Tim when they both attended Stonehill College. They chose Sakonnet Vineyards as the location for their nuptials because they love the farm coast and spent many a sunny weekend here. I knew this was going to be my kind of wedding as soon as I heard they were having a giant whoopie pie instead of a traditional wedding cake - my favorite dessert! It was a joy and a privelege to witness and document this occassion and to share in this couple’s special day.
