Stephanie and Jon’s Engagement Session

I was quietly working in the studio on a weekend morning when a friend called with a photo request. Her nephew, Jon and his (gorgeous) fiancee, Stephanie had contracted a RI wedding photographer for an engagement photo session at the much loved family cottage. Flying in from business trips, they came from opposite ends of the country to meet in PA and drive together to RI. As they crossed the RI border their photographer texted them that she could not do the photoshoot. Imagine my delight when I met this couple an hour later! In a word, Beautiful (inside and out).

Kate’s Engagement Session

Kate contacted Oggi this summer when she needed to have fresh photos taken of she and her fiance together.  She wanted to have engagement photos taken without any of the fuss and posing that seems to go along with engagement photos, no props or fluff.  Julie met them in a sun-drenched field next to Bristol Harbor for a relaxed session where they walked around and smiled for the camera.  Kate was thrilled with how Julie was able to "capture her essence" without making it feel contrived or fake.  Take a look at how this lovely couple bloomed in a garden of hydrangeas and love.

My journey to Haiti with 1000jobsHaiti

As some of you know, I traveled to Haiti last month to photograph for 1000jobsHaiti. It was a rich journey, filled with sights, smells and emotions that I have never experienced before. The sea of people was lush, the landscape teetered between heaven (the apparent visuals of the countryside), and hell (the city, Port-Au-Prince). It was a photographic overload! I miss it. Included below is just a taste of the visual feast of photos that I came back with.

Senior Portraits the Oggi way

The term "senior portrait" might mean something different depending on whom you ask.  Some people think it is having a full-scale commercial fashion shoot.  At Oggi we think that they should simply be radiant photographs of a person.  Just like with all her work, Julie creates a portrait that gets to the essence of a person without over processing or over dramatizing.  These three beautiful girls are each graduating as part of the class of 2012. Julie was able to snag each one at the end of the summer to capture these gorgeous photos and celebrate their final year of high school.

Ali and her family at the beach

Ali and her family met up with Julie on a perfect New England afternoon for sun, sand, wind and smiles.  Their last family portait was in the same place when the kids were just babies.  If they continue the tradition it will make for a really neat series that helps capture those years when life just seem to go by too fast.

Angela and Family in Westport

One of the joys of being a wedding photographer is being able to witness two people coming together and promise their love and devotion to each other.  One of the joys of being an established studio in RI is being able to witness all the wonderful things that come after the wedding.  We love to photograph people in every stage of their life and that includes when a family of two begins to grow!  In June 2000 we photographed the wedding of Angela and Chad at Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, RI.  Now, eleven years, two kids, two cats and one dog later we are still photographing this gorgeous couple plus their growing family.  Julie spent a sunny afternoon at their Westport home and brought these photos back to share.

Carson and the Ocean

This is a story of little Carson and how he conquerred the ocean. He started out timidly stepping into the the waters and before long he was splashing and grabbing handfuls of sand.  Carson's mom and dad were there to swing him around and laugh and enjoy the late afternoon sun. Julie tagged along to photograph the adventure and witnessed the pure glee that came from Carson discovering the gentle shores of Sandy Point Beach.
